Executive shakeup at Lidl GB

The UK arm of German discount grocer Lidl has announced a pair of major executive appointments as part of a shakeup to its leadership team.

The most senior of the two is the appointment of Maciej Tylkowski as the company’s joint chief operating officer. Tylkowski, who will also join Lidl GB’s board, will be responsible for the company’s supply chain while working with current COOs Matt Heslop and Tim Ulbrich.

The executive is currently chief operating officer at Lidl Poland, having spent almost 23 years working for the company in a variety of roles. He has been an executive board member at Lidl Poland for the past 17 years, and played a leading role in opening the first Lidl stores in his home country.

The second change is Nan Gibson, who will be promoted from the role of chief human resources officer at Lidl GB to the position of senior vice president of HR concepts at Lidl Stiftung, effective 1 April. Gibson has been at Lidl since 2016, and oversaw the investment of £50 million in staff salary increases in 2022.

Gibson’s replacement will be Stephanie Rogers, currently director of employee lifecycle and experience.

Ryan McDonnell, chief executive officer at Lidl GB, said: “I’m delighted Maciej and Steph are joining our Board of Directors. In their new positions they both bring a wealth of experience and will be instrumental in further bolstering our growth.

“I’d also like to congratulate Nan on her new role. Nan has played an enormous part in our growth, fostering our talent and making us one of the best employers in the country. I’d like to thank her both personally and on behalf of all our colleagues here at Lidl GB, and wish her the best of luck for the future.”
