Google Cloud launches e-commerce suite

Google Cloud has launched a suite of AI-powered technologies designed enhance retailers' digital platforms.

The company’s new ‘Product Discovery Solutions for Retail’ offering enables retailers to access search and recommendation capabilities that help enhance consumer engagement, while also improving conversions across their e-commerce platforms.

“As the shift to online continues, smarter and more personalized shopping experiences will be even more critical for retailers to rise above their competition,” said Carrie Tharp, vice president of retail and consumer at Google Cloud. “Retailers are in dire need of agile operating models powered by cloud infrastructure and technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) to meet today’s industry demands. We’re proud to partner with retailers around the world, and bring forward our Product Discovery offerings to help them succeed.”

The suite combines AI algorithms with Google’s cloud infrastructure.

Features include ‘Recommendations AI’, which enables retailers to deliver personalised product recommendations by piecing together the history of a customer’s shopping journey, and uses machine-learning architectures to help companies adapt to real-time customer behaviour.

As well as this, the suite gives access to a Vision API product search, which allows shoppers to search for products with an image and receive a ranked list of visually and semantically similar items.

Finally the BigTech’s cloud search for retail enables businesses to utilise intuitive search functionalities that ensure shoppers find exactly what they’re looking for at every step of their shopping journeys.
