Homebase has gone live with a new e-fulfilment order delivery service.
The DIY retailer partnered with Wincanton to help create a more positive customer experience by enabling better communication about items ordered for home delivery.
The service will allow Wincanton to manage over 300,000 customer deliveries from Homebase distribution centres during the first year of operation.
Stuart Tosh, director of distribution at Homebase, said: “We're already getting a positive response from customers, who are now able to track their order and leave instructions for the delivery driver – it's also helping us work more effectively, giving us greater visibility of stock throughout the whole process."
Paul Durkin, director of e-fulfilment at Wincanton, added: “This combination means we are well placed to transform Homebase’s customer delivery experience and grow their business.”
Earlier this year, Homebase revealed it had invested £10 million in stores in the UK and Ireland, while website investments led to a doubling of online sales, with more than half of customers starting their shopping journey online.
For the third year in a row, Homebase came bottom in the Which? list of 100 online retailers, with shoppers bemoaning its poor customer service and stock availability.
