John Lewis recruiting for over 10,000 seasonal jobs

The John Lewis Partnership is recruiting for over 10,000 roles across the country as it prepares for Christmas.

Waitrose will recruit around 2,800 seasonal roles across its 329 shops, these include supermarket assistants and customer delivery drivers. A further 2,900 temporary roles have been created in sales and merchandising at John Lewis.

The partnership is also recruiting 2,700 temporary employees to work across its supply chain, these will include warehouse operations and drivers.

The company added that a further 1,700 positions will be available across both Waitrose and John Lewis in a variety of roles over the coming months.

Employees will be given training in customer service through the partnership’s school of service, with the Group adding that there is potential for further development opportunities.

“We’re hugely proud of the way our two brands have become part of the excitement that surrounds Christmas and this is a great opportunity to be at the heart of that at such a special time,” said Lisa Cherry, executive director, people at the John Lewis Partnership. “Our customers are at the forefront of everything we do; we want to deliver a great festive season for them with inspirational products and the very best customer service courtesy of our brilliant Partners.”

Earlier this month John Lewis chief executive officer Nish Kankiwala reportedly said the retailer will likely develop a Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) service in the future, as it is something that young people have come to expect.
