Just Eat rolls out laundry and dry cleaning services through new partnership

Just Eat has announced a partnership with Laundryheap, which will allow customers in London to book laundry and dry cleaning directly through the delivery platform.

The food delivery service said the move will let customers schedule wash and fold or dry cleaning collections through the Just Eat app, with cleaned clothes returned within 24 hours.

The companies plan to extend the service to Birmingham, Manchester, and Edinburgh within the next six months.

Customers can book Laundryheap's services alongside other purchases on the app, with collection taking place within two hours of placing an order or at a scheduled time.

Just Eat's said its standard service fee applies, but delivery and collection will be free. Prices start from £1.96 per item for dry cleaning.

Research from Laundryheap found that 39 per cent of Britons have damaged clothes by washing them incorrectly and people spend an average of 6.5 days each year doing laundry. More than two in five respondents said they would pay someone else to handle the task if given the opportunity.

Just Eat said the service is designed to meet demand during the summer months, when warmer weather, commuting and social events such as weddings increase the need for laundry and specialist garment care.

Laundryheap has served more than 400,000 customers globally and processed over 110 million items, with 465,000 orders processed in the past year alone. The company said it uses low-emission vehicles and efficient water processes to help reduce its environmental impact.

Caroline Bates, grocery and new verticals director at Just Eat UK, said: "Summer often means busy diaries and busier wardrobes. Whether you've cycled into work on one of the hottest days of the year, have a week's worth of shirts waiting to be washed, or need your wedding outfit professionally cleaned before the next celebration, we're making it even easier to get everyday jobs done.

"Our partnership with Laundryheap is another step in our ambition to become the UK's go-to convenience platform. Customers already turn to Just Eat for dinner, groceries and everyday essentials, and now they can book laundry collections through the same app, giving them one less thing to think about."
