Klarna unveils price drop widget for festive season

Payments provider Klarna is globally rolling out out a new iOS price drop widget, allowing consumers to stay on top of the latest deals and sales during the festive period.

The feature has been launched alongside new curated holiday wish lists, deals and other content to help shoppers buy the most appropriate gifts.

With the Klarna iOS widget consumers will be able to receive real-time updates on price changes for their saved items by looking at the home screen on their smartphone.

The widget rotates through a selection of shoppers’ most relevant items and saved products based on price updates, to make sure they don’t miss an opportunity.

The widget is a permanent extension of the Klarna app experience that can be used beyond the holiday shopping season, the company said.

In the Klarna app itself, shoppers can browse curated wish lists and personalised deals based on price points, shopping categories and holiday gift recipients.

“With online shopping becoming the new norm and as people prepare for the upcoming holiday season, the Klarna app widget can play an integral role in simplifying this busy shopping period,” said Daniel Lange, senior product director at Klarna.

Klarna allows consumers to buy now and pay later, with over 200,000 merchants taking part in the platform, including the likes of H&M, IKEA, Expedia Group, Samsung, ASOS, Peloton, Abercrombie & Fitch and Nike.

This September, Klarna raised $650 million in an equity funding round, at a post money valuation of $10.65 billion.

This ranked the firm as the highest-valued private FinTech in Europe and the fourth-highest worldwide.
