Majestic launches on-demand delivery with Uber Eats

UK wine retailer Majestic has announced a new delivery partnership with Uber Eats.

The partnership has launched with an initial eight Majestic stores in Birmingham, Brighton, Cambridge, Clapham, Esher, Notting Hill, St John’s Wood and Westbury-on-Trym, but will be rolled out to a total of 177 locations by the end of October.

Majestic will be Uber Eats’ headline partner for drinks, which means it will permanently feature at the top of the alcohol section on the app.

The retailer said that it is aiming to build on the online growth it has experienced since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and “capitalise on the growing shift from its customers towards seeking local delivery solutions”.

The wine seller said that e-commerce sales made up over 20 per cent of its revenues in its latest financial year, driven in part by the increased popularity of its 'Shop Local' service.

The service lets customers shop the stock available at their local store, in real time, for free collection within four hours or next-day home delivery via its fleet of over 200 vans.

“We know that our online customers value the flexibility of shopping the stock available at their local stores in real time - now they have the added convenience of being able to get our award-winning wines delivered to their doorsteps in as little as 20 minutes," said Majestic chief operating officer Rob Cooke. "It’s a combination we know our customers will love and we are looking forward to rolling out the partnership with Uber Eats across the UK.”
