Partnership launches automated CO2 calculator for e-commerce

E-commerce consultancy Wunderman Thompson Commerce has teamed up with clean tech company Vaayu to create a new global sustainable practice for online retail.

The new practice will give retailers access to a platform to track, measure, and meet environmental commitments using Vaayu’s automated CO2 calculator.

According to research from the consultancy, 60 per cent of consumers actively choose companies that are more environmentally friendly, while 28 per cent of consumers are willing to switch a brand or retailer based on the sustainability/provenance of products.

The offering will cover consultancy, design, operations, and technology services to support retailers’ end-to-end in reducing the carbon footprint of their digital commerce propositions.

“We want to give retailers the tools to weave environmentally conscious, sustainable commerce practices into the fabric of their DNA,” said Neil Stewart, global chief executive, Wunderman Thompson Commerce. “Just as we have inclusive design in retail, we will now be able to provide sustainable consultancy, design, operations and technology services all in one place that transform the industry for the better”.

Namrata Sandhu, Co-founder and chief executive, Vaayu, added: "By accurately measuring and understanding carbon impact, Vaayu mobilises businesses with the tools and transparency needed to take tangible action and reduce emissions at scale."
