Screwfix opened 87 stores in 2022

Screwfix is on track to achieve its ambition to open more than 1,000 stores across the UK, France and the Republic of Ireland (ROI).

The homeware retailer opened 87 stores in the past 12 months – 72 in the UK, 10 in the ROI, and five in France – to bring its total to over 870 stores.

Screwfix’s expansion plans are supported by parent company Kingfisher, whose “Powered by Kingfisher” strategy focuses on “empowering its distinct retail banners in key areas such as own exclusive brands development, buying and sourcing, e-commerce, and technology and services”.

John Mewett, Screwfix chief executive, commented: “In response to sustained demand from tradespeople across the UK, Republic of Ireland and France, we have accelerated our store opening programme so that our customers are always near a Screwfix store.”

Following a French website launch in 2021, Screwfix’s parent company Kingfisher opened its first five Screwfix stores in the Hauts de France region in 2022.

The stores in France offer around 10,000 products aimed at trade professionals with an additional 5,000 products available online.
