Shirine Khoury-Haq to become Co-op’s first female CEO

The Co-op Group has announced that Shirine Khoury-Haq will takeover from the current chief executive in May.

Khoury-Haq will be the first woman chief executive in the Group’s history.

She takes over from Steve Murrells, who has worked for the Co-op for 10 years and held the role of CEO for five years.

“I am proud to be part of a wonderful organisation that contributes so much to our communities and our country,” said Khoury-Haq. “We have lots to do and I am looking forward to working with my 60,000 colleagues, Allan and our Board to continue to make the Co-op a special place to work while providing great products and services to our customers and members.”
