Uniqlo names new CEO and COO

Uniqlo’s parent company has announced the appointment of a new global chief executive and chief operating officer.

Fast Retailing said Tadashi Yanai and Daisuke Tsukagoshi’s induction into their respective new roles as chief executive and chief operating officer would be effective as of 1 September.

Tsukagoshi currently serves as the global chief executive of the daily operations of Uniqlo. His move to the new role at Uniqlo’s global headquarters is part of a strategy to strengthen the management structure through creation of a team that brings together managers in each market, Uniqlo said.

The Japanese multinational said current Uniqlo executive director, chairman, and president Tadashi Yanai would continue to lead the managerial decision-making and business expansion processes in his new position as the executive director, chairman, and chief executive of Uniqlo.

“Mr. Yanai will also continue to guide the formulation and execution of management direction for the entire group in his position as the chairman, president and chief executive of the company,” it added.
