Waitrose partners with Uber Eats

Waitrose has announced a multi-year partnership with Uber Eats to deliver products to customers in as little as 20 minutes.

The service is currently available in five London locations and will roll out to more than 200 shops across the UK, including in Wales and Scotland, by the end of August.

Uber Eats said that it has seen bookings on the platform increase by almost 60 per cent in the first quarter of the year compared to last year. Waitrose added that young customers have helped grow on-demand grocery orders by 40 per cent compared with the previous year.

Customers using the platform will be able to order from thousands of items including the essential Waitrose range, ready meals, drinks and brands including Gail’s Bakery.

Commenting on the news James Bailey, executive director for Waitrose, said: “We want more and more people to enjoy the quality and taste of Waitrose products as and when they want it. On-demand grocery shopping continues to grow in popularity with our customers and partnering with Uber Eats means we have even more flexibility to be there for them whenever they need us."

Last month, Waitrose announced that it had lowered the prices of over 200 items, with around half of the prices lowered by at least 10 per cent.
