Yodel has delivered nearly half a million parcels via bicycle in the past six months.
This beats the last year's record of 290,000.
Yodel is using couriers and e-cargo bikes from Urb-it to make more sustainable deliveries to customers in UK cities.
The parcel carrier is aiming to deliver more than 750,000 parcels by bike by the end of its financial year in July.
“We are delighted to announce an expansion with our cycle courier partner, Urb-it, to deliver the last mile sustainably across more UK cities, supporting the UK's Clean Air Zones in our last mile deliveries and the UK Government’s Net Zero strategy,” said Mike Hancox, chief executive, Yodel. “We take our environmental responsibility very seriously and a proactive approach to reducing the carbon footprint of our operations forms a key aspect of our decision making.
“In the last year we have come a long way to laying strong foundations to continue building on as we look to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.”
The partnership with Urb-it follows a successful trial period, which saw the companies operating out of local micro-hubs across London and consequently launching in Glasgow, Bristol and Manchester.
Yodel plans to expand bicycle deliveries to Birmingham, Liverpool and Edinburgh.
