Zara Pre-Owned chooses Stripe for payments

Zara has chosen Stripe to process payments for its UK-based pre-owned clothing marketplace.

Zara Pre-Owned, which was launched in the UK last year, lets consumers buy and sell second-hand Zara items.

Owners take pictures of their unwanted Zara clothes, which are then cross-referenced with the fast-fashion retailer’s product database.

Potential buyers are then able to access detailed information on the items they want to buy.

The site also gives users the option to donate their clothes or request a repair.

Zara will now use Stripe Connect to move funds between buyers and sellers of these products.

The service enables Zara to embed the company's global payments platform directly into the marketplace, which means that all payments-related requirements are passed onto Stripe.

“Sustainability in retail is finally receiving the attention it deserves to help protect our fragile planet," said Eileen O'Mara, head of global sales, Stripe. "We're thrilled that Zara has chosen Stripe as they lead the way."

Zara has plans to expand its pre-owned service to other European markets later this year.
