Aldi to hire 1,000 people before 2025

Aldi has announced that it will create 1,000 jobs in new stores across the UK before the end of the year.

The discount supermarket chain said it is hiring for a variety of roles including managerial, store cleaner, and apprentice positions.

Aldi claims it offers the best hourly rates in the sector and is the only supermarket to provide paid breaks, which are worth more than £900 a year for the average store employee.

Pay for store assistants is £12.40 per hour, rising to £13.35 nationally. Starting pay for employees working inside the M25 is £13.65 per hour.

Aldi is currently the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket, with over 1,020 stores and around 45,000 employees. The company has long term plans to increase the number of stores to 1,500.

On average, Aldi is currently opening one store a week and plans to open stores in Plymouth Leeds and London over the next month. Earlier this month, Aldi said it would open ten new stores over the summer.

“As we continue to open in new areas, we’re looking to welcome hundreds more colleagues to our amazing teams across the country,” said Kelly Stokes, recruitment director at Aldi UK. “We want even more people to be a part of our success in the future, which is why we offer a great working environment and opportunities to progress within the business.”
