Amazon to ‘hold second Amazon Prime event’

Amazon is set to hold a second Amazon Prime event this year in the final quarter, according to sources cited by Business Insider.

This marks first time the retail giant has held two Prime shopping events in one year.

According to Business Insider, Amazon began notifying third-party merchants of a “Prime Fall deal event” via its internal seller portal, dubbed Seller Central.

The news organisation’s sources did not specify a date for the event; however, it did encourage sellers to submit deals for July 22nd.

Prime Day deals will begin on Tuesday, July 12 and run through July 13.

The reports come as Amazon’s growth slows post pandemic.

Amazon reported a net loss of $3.8 billion in the first quarter of the year, its first since 2015, compared to an income of $8.1 billion in the same period of 2021.

Sales did increase by seven per cent to $116.4 billion in the quarter, compared to 44 per cent growth in the same period of 2021.
