House of Fraser appoints new digital director

Department store chain House of Fraser has hired David Seeby as its new digital director. Seeby joins from M&S, where he held roles including head of online operations, head of user experience and most recently head of merchandising and analytics.

Prior to that, Seeby worked at Dixons Retail for five years, with roles including head of multi-channel, head of business development and head of user experience and design.

David Walmsley, chief customer officer at House of Fraser, commented: “We are delighted to welcome David Seeby as digital director of House of Fraser. David worked with me at M&S where he was head of merchandising and analytics. His experience and expertise will be invaluable as we drive the business’ on-going transformation.”

House of Fraser also published their results for the Christmas trading period for the six weeks to 31 December 2016, revealing like-for-like sales increased 2.7 per cent year-on-year. Black Friday itself saw a rise of 2.7 per cent on the comparative period last year, with online sales representing 41 per cent of total sales across the six day event.

Nigel Oddy, CEO at House of Fraser, noted: “We are very pleased to report a solid overall performance this Christmas; driven in part by very strong online demand over Black Friday and good Boxing Day week sales. In addition, we are delighted by the results achieved in our recently refurbished stores, which have consistently appeared among our top performing stores over the Christmas period.”
