JD Sports appoints Ian Dyson as non-executive director

JD Sports has appointed Ian Dyson as non-executive director with effect from 9 March 2023.

He will also join the audit and risk committee and the remuneration committee.

Dyson joins JD Sports from Currys, where he is currently chair of the board. He was previously chairman and senior independent director at ASOS.

Dyson has also held the role of non-executive director of Intercontinental Hotels and was senior independent director at Flutter Entertainment.

In addition, Dyson worked at Marks and Spencer, where he was group finance and operations director.

Commenting on the news Andrew Higginson, chair, said: "I am delighted to welcome Ian to the JD Board. He brings a wealth of relevant experience and insight to our deliberations. The appointment of Ian is further progress towards strengthening the Board's broader PLC experience base."

JD Sports recently completed the sale of five ‘non-core’ UK fashion brands to Frasers Group, as part of a deal worth £47.5 million. The brands include Tessuti, Scotts, Choice, Giulio, and Cricket, which will join eight brands that were immediately transferred to Frasers Group when the deal was first announced last year.
