Klarna launches platform to connect retailers with influencers

Swedish Buy Now, Pay Later company Klarna has launched a new platform to help retailers and influencers connect.

The Creator Platform was built on the back of Klarna’s acquisition of APPRL, a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform that allows content creators and retailers to bring shoppable content to global consumers.

The new platform matches retailers to the right influencers for them, Klarna said, and measures performance metrics in real time to enable retailers to “better engage with their target audiences and achieve higher returns on influencer partnerships”.

Having launched in the US in October, the Creator Platform is now available in all 45 regions in which Klarna operates.

Through its user interface, creators have access to thousands of products to recommend directly to their social media followers, Klarna said, with all earned commissions automatically paid out in one monthly invoice.

Sebastian Siemiatkowski, chief executive of Klarna commented: “As social shopping becomes a core element of the retail experience, we believe Klarna’s position at the centre of the shopping ecosystem is instrumental in connecting retailers to both consumers and content creators who resonate with their brand audiences.”

He added: “By adding APPRL to Klarna’s existing retailer support expertise, we see a huge opportunity to create an enriching and informative shopping experience for consumers everywhere while accelerating retailer growth.”

The move follows Klarna’s launch of an initiative aimed at speeding up the development of Open Banking services.

The company also recently added price comparison tool to its app.

Klarna said that the new the tool provides an alternative to search engines and allows users to filter products by categories including size, colour and shipping options.
