Majestic has announced plans to open its first-ever store on the Channel Islands.
The store on Jersey will mark the company’s first new shop opening this year, after launching six new locations across England and Wales during its 2023/2024 financial year.
The specialist wine retailer said that it is aiming to open one new store per month over the coming years as part of its brick-and-mortar expansion.
Earlier this month, Majestic bought wine bar chain Vagabond Wines out of administration.
The takeover, which comes after Vagabond went into administration in March, saved nine of the company’s wine bars from closure, as well as 171 jobs.
“Expanding outside of mainland UK and onto the Channel Islands is an incredibly exciting milestone for us in our growth strategy – one that underscores our ongoing commitment to investing in bricks and mortar retail," said Majestic chief executive John Colley.
Majestic, which will open its new Jersey store at the end of the month, will offer the island's customers next-day home delivery from its own electric van; free glass hire for occasions such as weddings and birthday parties; and free wine tastings seven days a week.
The company said that the new store will also support its "rapidly growing" B2B division, Majestic Commercial, which will supply wines to gastropubs, bars and restaurants across Jersey.
