Shopify partners with B2B payments platform

Shopify has partnered with B2B payments platform Melio to launch a new service for US merchant customers.

Shopify said that the new platform dubbed Bill Pay is an accounts payable service which will give merchants flexibility in managing expenses and vendors via the platform. Merchants can pay bills via their preferred method and chose how the vendor receives the payment.

Melio claims that this flexibility will help merchants manage their cash flow and spend less time tracking invoices. The company added that Bill Pay will integrate into Shopify Balance, Shopify’s free financial business account, and that there are no subscription or sign-up fees.

Commenting on the news Shruti Patel, global head of merchant services partnerships and monetisation at Shopify, said: "Shopify is committed to making commerce better for everyone, which is why we teamed up with Melio to power Shopify Bill Pay and free up our merchants' time and resources, so they can focus on growing their business.”

Shopify recently announced that revenue jumped by 26 per cent to $1.7 billion in the final quarter of 2022. Shopify’s Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) also increased by 13 per cent to $61 billion during the fourth quarter.
