Superdrug has launched a new digital health and beauty marketplace on its website.
The new e-marketplace, part of the retailer’s digital transformation strategy, has signed 300 brands.
The launch comes after Superdrug saw a "significant increase" in Christmas gift sales last month, as consumers stocked up early for the festive period.
The health and beauty retailer said that it had seen a 219 per cent sales uplift of Christmas gifts compared to the same period of last year.
The new marketplace has been integrated onto Superdrug.com so that customers can switch between established brands and new sellers.
Superdrug first announced that it would create an online marketplace earlier this year, when it signed over 200 brands.
Superdrug said that the marketplace has a focus on homegrown, female-founded, sustainable, and inclusive new brands.
Brands launching on the new Marketplace include cruelty-free ethical skincare range Up Circle, UK brand Nature Spell and Women’s razor brand FFS Beauty.
“Marketplace is the exciting next step in our digital transformation programme,” said Matt Walburn, marketing and e-commerce director, Superdrug. “ Our intention is twofold; to promote diversity by supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses within the industry and to dramatically increase our range on Superdrug.com; broadening and strengthening our accessible beauty and health offering to our customers.”
