Uber Eats is using a new tool to streamline the onboarding process of its delivery drivers.
The tool is AI-powered and reduces identity fraud by analysing documents over a video stream.
Checkout.com said its new Identity Verification tool can identify “almost every citizen on earth” and can be used by businesses to verify identities in “under 120 seconds, 24 hours a day, seven days a week”.
“We're delighted to be working with the Checkout.com Identity Verification teams to take full advantage of their expertise so that we can guarantee the authenticity of every document provided and the best delivery experience for all independent delivery drivers using the Uber Eats app,” commented Baptiste Foulon, senior operations manager at Uber Eats.
Identities that cannot be verified within two minutes by the AI tool are handed over to a dedicated team for a systematic human review, with Checkout.com stating these persons are experts trained by customs police officers on ID document security features and the methodology to assess a face match.
During its beta phase, Identity Verification reportedly identified over one million fraudulent identities.
