Victoria’s Secret partners with Google Cloud for GenAI services

Clothing brand Victoria’s Secret has partnered with Google Cloud to explore the use of generative AI (GenAI) to enhance inclusivity and personalisation for its customers.

In a blog post for Google, Chris Rupp, chief customer officer at Victoria’s Secret, said the company was using Vertex AI to offer personalised advice and product recommendations via a chatbot which replicates the service customers receive in stores.

He added that the company has also used GenAI to improve its search capabilities, with shoppers now able to find a specific product by dropping an image into the websites search bar and receive recommendations for underwear with a similar fit and style.

As well as improving services for customers, Rupp said Victoria’s secret has also used Google’s technology to optimise its supply chain and assist with the training and onboarding of new employees.

“At Victoria’s Secret & Co., a key part of our mission is to celebrate and support women in everything we do,” Rupp said. “We always strive to give each customer, whether they’re a sports enthusiast, a nursing mother, a breast cancer survivor recovering from a mastectomy, or someone who is simply ready for a new bra, a memorable and personalised experience.”

He continued: “Over the past year, we’ve seen how breakthroughs in AI and generative AI hold the potential to enhance inclusivity and personalisation for customers everywhere — even those far removed from our retail locations.”
