Waitrose strikes partnership with Dobbies garden centres

The garden centre retailer Dobbies has announced a new partnership with Waitrose.

Waitrose will provide Dobbies’ customers with a range of food, grocery products, and everyday essentials in more than 50 Dobbies garden centres across the UK.

Dobbies was previously allied with Sainsbury’s and launched its new-style foodhall in 2020. Since then, it has experienced significant growth and now offers customers a range of fresh, frozen, ambient, and chilled food as well as other household products.

Waitrose replaces the former Sainsbury’s partnership, and Dobbies will launch the new partnership at its Edinburgh centre in July, with further UK locations added later this year.

This partnership will bring Waitrose to 20 new towns and cities and Dobbies’ new flagship stores at Tewkesbury and Reading will also benefit from the Waitrose partnership, Dobbies said.

James Bailey, executive director at Waitrose, commented: “With Dobbies we will be working with a partner that shares our values when it comes to quality and service, and this underlines our ambitions to bring Waitrose food and drink to even more people throughout the UK.”

He added: “It will take us into locations that are entirely new for us and build our presence in other areas where a Waitrose shop may not currently be conveniently accessible, despite strong demand for our products.”

Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
