Zara ‘launching pre-owned resale & repair platform’

Zara is launching an in-house service for UK customers to sell, repair or donate pre-owned clothes, according to reporting by Reuters.

The Spanish fashion retailer’s new platform is set to launch on 3 November and will be available through Zara stores, its website and a new mobile app.

The fashion retailer told the news agency that its pre-owned platform would contribute to the reduction of waste and the consumption of raw materials.

The platform will be organised by product categories and provide information for each item including current images provided by the seller and original product information provided by Zara, according to the report.

Zara’s UK customers will soon also be able to have any used Zara items repaired – a process shoppers will reportedly be able to arrange in-store and online.

The news follows the announcement by Inditex, Zara’s parent company, that Zara saw ‘record high’ sales growth in the first six months of the year.

Retail Systems has reached out to Zara for confirmation on the announcement.
