Amazon lets Shopify merchants offer ‘Buy with Prime’ checkout option

Amazon is set to release an app within Shopify’s ecosystem to give US-based merchants using its fulfilment network an option to add ‘Buy with Prime’ into their Shopify checkout.

The new option means Shopify merchants will have the choice to offer their products to Prime members on Shopify for the first time ever, while continuing to maintain 100 per cent control of their brand and their customer data in Shopify’s admin, the company said.

Shopify chief executive Harley Finkelstein said the new app will make it easier for merchants who also partner with Amazon to offer Buy with Prime to customers on their Shopify-powered site.

“Merchants can give Prime members access to Prime benefits like fast and free delivery outside of Amazon.com for the first time ever,” he explained. “This will give customers more flexibility in how they make their purchases from the independent brands they know, love, and trust.

“More choice means more opportunities to succeed as an entrepreneur; and that’s what we are powering here at Shopify.”

Shopify partnered with B2B payments platform Melio in April for a new platform dubbed Bill Pay, an accounts payable service which will give merchants flexibility in managing expenses and vendors via the platform.
