The Co-op has partnered with Pricer to install a new digital shelf labelling platform in over 120 food stores in the east of England.
The cloud-based platform will allow the Co-op to centrally manage and control pricing, product information as well as promotions on all shelf labels in connected stores.
The retailer said that the new technology eliminates the need to manually update information and reduces the risk of error, adding that the move would increase efficiency and allow staff to focus on other tasks.
The Co-op will begin rolling out the new labelling system in June and aims to have the tech fully implemented to all stores by spring 2025.
“This collaboration will revolutionise our approach to shelf-edge technology, streamlining processes for our team and enhancing the shopping experience for our members and customers,” said Sarah Steels, chief transformation officer at the East of England Co-operative Society.
“It’s a step towards a future where simplicity and efficiency elevate the retail experience for everyone involved.”
In February this year, the Co-op announced it would adopt a cloud-first strategy to support its business growth and is expanding its 14-year partnership with Tata Consultancy Services to deliver the new strategy.
