Intersport revamps product data with AI technology

Global sporting goods retailer Intersport has rolled out an AI platform to automatically standardise and categorise its product catalogues.

The company said that the technology, supplied by Akeneo-owned Unifai, has helped it increase speed time to market and optimise purchasing spend, as well as improve performance monitoring.

Intersport, which recorded retail sales of €13.7 billion last year, currently has 5,300 affiliated stores across 42 countries, with 270 based in the UK and Ireland.

"The powerful acceleration we've been enjoying in recent months has allowed us to cut the time it takes to integrate new products into the relevant universes in half, optimise purchases from our members, and improve the customer experience with products that are well referenced on all touchpoints,” said Matthieu Pellet, director of digital transformation at Intersport France.

The company said that previously, manually processing a catalogue of 8,000 products took it around a week. Now Intersport is able to complete these tasks in two to three days, with some catalogues completed in just an hour.
