M&Co is beginning to shutter its stores after falling into administration earlier this year.
The Scottish brand, which is closing all 170 of its stores, was rescued by AK Retail Holdings, the parent company of brands such as Your Clothing and Long Tall Sally, in February this year.
The AK Retail deal, however, did not include the purchase of physical stores, with M&co previously announcing it would begin shutting its stores around Easter, putting around 2,000 jobs in jeopardy.
M&co said: "As we haven't received any funded, deliverable offers that would result in the transfer of the company's stores or staff to a potential buyer, this means that all of our stores will close,” it said earlier this year.
The fatal blow for the company’s physical outlets came after it fell into administration in December 2022. The clothing retailer also entered pre-pack administration in 2020 resulting in 47 store closures.
Lingering aftereffects of pandemic difficulties put M&co among a group of retailers which have failed in recent months. Stationary retailer Paperchase fell into administration in January and summarily sold its brand to Tesco, while Joules’ failure led it to being scooped up by Next for around £34 million at the end of last year.
