ScS hires former Argos boss as chairman

ScS has hired John Walden as non-executive chairman. He will take on the role when the current chairman Alan Smith retires next year.

The company said Walden will initially join the board of the furniture and flooring retailer as independent non-executive director in March 2023. He will become chairman in November 2023.

Walden was previously chief executive at Argos and its parent company Home Retail Group. He has also held positions at Yo Sushi, Naked Wines and Holland & Barrett.

Commenting on the appointment Alan Smith, the non-executive chairman of ScS said: “I am delighted that John is joining the ScS Board and will, in time, succeed me as Chair of the Group. He brings deep board level expertise in both executive and non-executive capacities, has excellent consumer driven and omnichannel experience, and has led transformational and digital change, both in the UK and US. John will be a great addition to the ScS team."
