Very announces new CEO

The Very Group, has promoted Robbie Feather to group chief executive following Lionel Desclée’s decision to step down from the role.

Feather previously worked as retail managing director after joining the online retailer in 2021. In the role he led the company's retail team, group trading and marketing, overseeing the development of the company’s new brand platform.

Prior to joining The Very Group, Feather served as chief executive of department store Fenwick where he was involved in launching its online business. He has also held roles at Sainsbury’s Argos where he oversaw the digital transformation of the business and led the commercial team.

“Robbie has proven to be an outstanding retail leader, both at The Very Group and throughout his career,” said Aidan Barclay, chairman of The Very Group. “He understands our business intimately and has a strong track record of transformation and growth.

“He is the perfect person to lead the next stage of The Very Group’s development. On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Lionel for his strong, customer-focused leadership. We wish him the very best in his future endeavours.”

In February, The Very Group announced a new long-term partnership with investment firm Carlyle and investment house IMI to support its growth strategy following a half-year loss.

As part of the partnership Very received a £125 million funding package, with around £85 million provided by Carlyle Global Credit, while Carlyle and IMI will each take a seat on Very’s board.
