Addison Lee launches 2-hr delivery in London

Courier and travel business Addison Lee has launched a new two-hour delivery service in London.

The company, best known for its taxi service, said that the delivery option, called AL Now, is already used by several major retailers.

Addison Lee said that the service has been designed to help independent local businesses compete with retail giants like Amazon by giving their customers control over delivery timings.

A number of retailers are currently trialling the service, including Islington-based champagne retailer The Finest Bubble, Earlsfield florist Blume Studios, Menswear retailer Hackett, and N1 antique store Urban Vintage Affair.

“Since the first lockdown last March, we’ve seen our courier services grow by 30 per cent as shopping behaviour shifted online,” said Liam Griffin, chief executive, Addison Lee. “At the same time, we have seen shoppers come to expect that their purchases will be delivered at a time and date of their choosing.

He explained: “We created AL Now in response this trend – offering a simple, speedy and seamless delivery solution designed to help London's local businesses meet changing customer demands.”
