Adidas Originals launches personality-based avatar platform

Adidas Originals is set to launch a personality-based avatar creation platform in collaboration with Ready Player Me.

Ready Player Me is an Estonia-based cross-game avatar platform for the metaverse, which it claims lets users create a 3D avatar with a selfie which can be used in over 1000 compatible apps and games, maintaining a single identity.

The collaboration will produce characters based on users’ answers to a personality test on its platform.

adiClub Members and adidas NFT holders will be granted early access to the project via a unique URL, with the first instalment of avatars arriving on April 28th.

The news comes as Adidas Originals pushes further into the digital world.

The fashion brand raised around $22 million in December non-fungible token (NFT) sale of virtual pieces.

The total value of the metaverse could hit between $8 trillion and $13 trillion by 2030, according to new research commissioned by Citi Bank.
