Aldi to create 1,700 roles across UK warehouses

Aldi has announced it is hiring over 1,700 people to work in its UK warehouses between now and the end of the year.

This includes both full and part time roles at its regional distribution centres.

Last month the supermarket said it would be creating 800 new jobs in stores by the end of 2023.

The hiring spree is part of the supermarket’s expansion plans, with the budget retailer is set to open around one new store per week across the UK between now and Christmas.

“As we continue to grow and attract new shoppers, we need even more amazing colleagues at our distribution sites to make everything possible,” said Kelly Stokes, recruitment director at Aldi UK.“As well as healthcare and lifestyle perks, being a part of the Aldi team means a great working environment.

“With it being an exciting time for the business there are also real opportunities to progress.”

Earlier this month, Aldi announced that it is trialling sensory-friendly shopping times in around 100 stores.

Changes to facilitate quieter shopping include stopping public address announcements, quieter till scan sounds and notices to make customers aware of the dedicated shopping times.
