Getir to create 6,000 new jobs in 2022

Grocery delivery company Getir has pledged to create 6,000 new jobs this year.

The Istanbul-founded company, which is celebrating its one-year anniversary in the UK, said that over the 12-month period it created 4,000 jobs in nearly 20 cities and towns across the country.

According to Getir, its valuation has risen to more than $7.7 billion.

The delivery business, which unlike Deliveroo or Uber Eats employees its drivers, said that it plans to invest £100 million into the UK.

“From only five stores when we opened a year ago, we now serve our customers from 115 stores which has created thousands of jobs – all from the area surrounding our stores,” said Turancan Salur, regional general manager, Getir. “We deliver groceries within minutes of them being ordered and are able to support many local producers around every city and town that we operate in.

“We have beaten all expectations for 2021 and plan to go even further this year; if there is demand out there, we’ll be ready to serve it.”

This week the company opened its 115th UK store in Wolverhampton.

Getir now operates in all 81 cities of Turkey and last year launched in the UK in January, the Netherlands in May, Germany and France in June, Spain and Italy in September, Portugal in October, and the United States in November.
