L’Occitane launches same-day delivery

L’Occitane has partnered with last-mile delivery firm On the Dot to support the launch of a same-day delivery service.

The ‘ship from store’ service will be rolled out to 86 stores across the UK following a successful trial in London stores.

On the Dot’s technology focusses on the so-called ‘last mile’ of the delivery process. An online retailer portal displays dynamic time windows, allowing customers to select deliveries at the time most convenient to them.

L’Occitane said On the Dot’s technology would integrate directly with its existing website, offering customers an opt-in for next or same day delivery at the online checkout, or via an in-store portal accessible on a tablet as part of the ordering process.

Customers in London can now select a two-hour delivery window of their choice that day or the next day, between 11am and 6pm on any day of the week.

Paco Ribagnac, supply chain director at L’Occitane, said the tie up with On the Dot’s same day delivery service would allow the company to offer cusomers “the next level of convenience”.

Santosh Sahu, chief executive of On the Dot, added that Amazon’s growing monopoly over retail was “reshaping consumer expectation, pushing convenience and immediacy to the centre of every purchase decision”.

PwC’s global consumer insights survey recently suggested that 40 per cent of online shoppers would be prepared to pay an extra charge for same day delivery.

The announcement of further investment in L’Occitance’s digital and delivery options comes after the company announced a partnership with automated customer service technology firm ContentSquare, which will enable faster responses to digital experience anomalies.
