Mitchells & Butlers rolls out pay at table tech

Mitchells & Butlers (M&B), which operates 1,700 pubs, restaurants and bars in the UK, is rolling out new mobile payments and ordering technology through a partnership with Flypay.

The tech provider’s Flyt platform will enable M&B to access a range of different solutions designed to improve the customer journey – including Flypay’s ‘Pay at Table’ and ‘Bar Tab’ technologies. Pay at Table allows customers to check, split and pay their bill from an iOS or Android smartphone, while Bar Tabs means tables can start a tab on a mobile and then divide the total cost between the group.

Guests will also be able to redeem digital Eagle Eye loyalty vouchers directly from their phones without having to go to the bar, while the Flyt platform also consolidates all of the hospitality retailer’s devices into one operating system.

Chris Hopkins, commercial and marketing director at M&B, said: “Digital innovation opens up many possibilities to enhance customer experience and improve the efficiency of our operations. We’re delighted to have Flypay as a partner. The Flyt platform offers a breadth of services and crucially provides real flexibility for each of our brands across our estate.”

Tom Weaver, CEO of Flypay, added: “Our integrations through the Flyt platform will dramatically streamline M&B’s operations, increasing efficiencies whilst most importantly, responding to customer needs. We are really excited to be playing such a crucial role in this journey with M&B, who will be the largest operator in the UK (based on number of sites) to adopt next-generation mobile payment technology.”

M&B operates brands including All Bar One, Harvester, Nicholson’s, Toby Carvery, O’Neill’s, Browns and Miller & Carter.
