Primark has recorded a 19 per cent increase in sales to £4.2 billion for the six months to 4 March.
The fast-fashion retailer said that its strong like-for-like sales growth was largely driven by price and volume.
The results come as Primark-owner Associated British Foods (ABF) announces it is expanding its click & collect trial to the capital.
The move builds on the company’s 25-store trial which it launched last year.
The brand had not sold its products online before the launch, with the initial roll out located at select stores in the North West of England, Yorkshire, and North Wales.
The stores included Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, and Blackburn.
“We’re really encouraged by how the trial has landed with customers, who tell us they value the choice and convenience click & collect is offering them,” said Paul Marchant, chief executive, Primark. “We’re also seeing strong demand for the service outside the trial region and it’s helping us reach new customers too.”
Customers using the service in London can add items to a virtual shopping basket where they can choose a day to collect, up to seven days ahead, from their chosen store.
Orders will be available for collection at a dedicated click and collect desk in stores from two days after they have been placed with a £10 minimum order value and no delivery charge.
