Caffè Nero launches festive app promotion

Caffè Nero, in partnership with mobile payment and loyalty marketing platform Yoyo, has launched a new promotion which rewards its customers with digital Christmas crackers.

From today, every time a customer makes a transaction that includes a hot drink, through Caffè Nero’s payment and loyalty app, they will receive a digital Christmas cracker which they can open to find out if they have won one of 200,000 prizes.

Along with the chance to win the prizes, there will also be thousands of golden Caffe Nero loyalty bonus stamps up for grabs, as well as limited edition gift cards and coffee vouchers.

The Yoyo-powered app, which combines payment and loyalty, is able to identify customer behaviour through individual basket data at the point of sale.

The basket data also gives Caffè Nero the opportunity to create post-transactional marketing campaigns which are tailored in real-time to customers’ purchasing behaviour.

Marcus Denison-Smith, head of marketing at Caffè Nero said: “When we set out to build Caffè Nero’s combined payment and loyalty app, the customer’s experience was constantly at the centre of our thinking.

“It was important that customers be presented with a seamless day-to-day mobile solution to pay for their items and, at the same time, digitally stamp their loyalty cards. But it was equally important that the app provide opportunities to create more rewarding experiences linked to their everyday transactions.”

Michael Rolph, co-founder and CPO at Yoyo, added: “Customers are now looking for a more enhanced personalised retail experience on the High Street that goes beyond a fast way to pay for goods. So we came up with this first-of-its-kind post-transaction marketing idea to surprise and delight Caffè Nero app customers just for going about their daily business.”
