Ikea to launch 100 Tesco Click and Collect points

Ikea is planning to launch 100 more Tesco Click & Collect points by 2025, with half of them due to open this year.

The expansion comes as the retailer’s online business grows rapidly to meet an increasing online customer demand, with almost 40 per cent of Ikea’s total sales made through online purchases.

The growth of Ikea’s mobile pick-up point network in partnership with Tesco represents a strategic initiative that aims to further strengthen its delivery and collection services offering.

Ikea highlighted that the expansion will see 90 per cent of consumers situated within five miles of a collection point.

Jakob Bertilsson, country customer fulfilment manager at Ikea UK, said the 100th mobile pick-up point highlights the retailer’s effort to develop and improve its services to make them more affordable and accessible for their customers.

“Our ambitions to double our Click & Collect offering, combined with the strengthening of services such as Ikea Home Delivery, means we are now closer than ever to people in all parts of the UK,” he said.

Simon Williams, Tesco’s assets and estates director stressed how the firm is constantly looking for ways to help its customers make their shop more convenient.

“We are pleased to be working with Ikea to give their customers the option to collect orders from more of our stores,” explained Williams. “We are proud of this 100th Click & Collect point milestone and hope this continues to improve the shopping experience for Tesco and Ikea customers.”

Customers can use the pick-up service at Tesco store through the Ikea website, the Ikea app or with the assistance of a remote or in-house co-worker, with orders ready to be collected as early as the following day at the chosen Tesco store.

When using these locations, customers can collect Ikea home furnishing orders over £100 for free, or £5 for all other orders. The service has been recently extended to shoppers in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

In late 2023, Ikea introduced new options to facilitate their home service offering, such as free small parcel deliveries for orders over £60, and prices for furniture delivery reduced as part of a way to introduce new lower prices across its range and services.

The retailer recently announced the opening of its 100th store following a national roll-out initially piloted in 2022.
