SportShoes.com launches mobile app

SportShoes.com has launched its first-ever mobile app.

The roll out is part of the firm’s ongoing strategic expansion plans, with the sports specialist retailer seeking to further boost its online presence in a range of business divisions including shoes, running clothing and outdoor gear.

The app, developed by specialist sport retailer solution provider One iota, aims to strengthen the retailer’s online customer experience, providing a range of tailor-made services such as customised content suggestions and a product list generated from users’ previous online activity and preferences.

The retailer, which has invested £4.6 million over the past three years on technologies, people, processes, and facilities, currently offers more than 17,000 products from 150 global sports brands, including Asics, Nike, Adidas, Hoka, New Balance, Haglöfs, Montane, Rab and Patagonia.SportShoes.com said it is also looking to strengthen its connection with the wider athlete community, with users invited to sync their England Athletics profile with their account and combine their running and fitness data with their shopping habits.

The retailer has also recently revamped its UK and international websites, including introducing more personalisation around product browsing through features such as bespoke customer advice.

SportsShoes.com managing director Brett Bannister described the app launch as a “digital reincarnation” of the online brand, adding that the platform will be a “key tool” for its UK and European growth plans.

The firm is running a raffle to celebrate the app launch, with customers being rewarded prizes such as coaching sessions and kit from well-known brand partners including New Balance, ASICS, Salmon, Adidas and Garmin.

“We’re very grateful to our brand partners for supporting this launch competition and we look forward to announcing the winners as we mark this new chapter in SportsShoes.com’s growth journey,” said Bannister.
