Timpson rolls out AI self-service package pickup in stores

Timpson Group is partnering with Position Imaging, the package logistics and asset tracking firm, to offer a self-service package pickup solution in its stores.

The UK and Ireland-based service retailer will be rolling out the technology in its 2,100 stores in the UK and Ireland.

The iPickup Courier Access Point is a new package management system that uses AI-based computer vision technology to provide self-service package PickUp and Drop-Off (PUDO).

James Timpson, chief executive of the Timpson Group, explained: “We have been around since 1865, partly because we are a forward-thinking retailer always looking for innovations to improve our customers’ lives and the community as a whole.”

He added: “Timpson has always been at the forefront of innovation, and we have been quick to embrace AI for PUDO when we realised the benefits it brings to our customers!”
