Primark opens first-ever standalone homeware store in Belfast

Primark will open its first stand-alone ‘Primark Home’ shop in Belfast, opening its doors to customers in March.

Located in the Fountain House building in Donegall Place, the shop will span across 8,700 square feet on one floor and will be Primark's tenth in Northern Ireland.

The retailer said that the move will give a new lease of life to the Fountain House building, which previously served as a temporary home for Primark from 2019 to 2022 while its store at the city’s iconic Grade B1-listed Bank Buildings underwent refurbishment.

With the opening of Fountain House, Primark's homewares offering will move out of Bank Buildings, allowing the retailer to expand its children's and menswear collections into that space.

Since 2021, the company has introduced its homeware collections in many of its shops globally, with products ranging from bedding and cotton towels to home accessories, decorative pieces and ceramics.

Fintan Costello, head of Primark Northern Ireland and Ireland, commented on the choice of location: “Belfast felt like the perfect place to bring this concept to life, and Fountain House offers an incredible setting in the heart of the city centre to showcase our expanded homeware range.”

The retailer said the Primark Home shop in Fountain House will offer ‘an even wider selection’ of home products.

Commenting on Primark’s homeware collection, Costello added: “Our Home collection has always proven to be a real hit among our Belfast customers and we can’t wait to welcome them into our very first Primark Home store.”

In November, Primark announced it will open its first store in Texas next month, with the company planning to open a further four stores in the state.
