The John Lewis Partnership has announced plans to launch Caffè Nero at both John Lewis and Waitrose stores.
As part of a new deal with the coffeehouse, Waitrose is introducing a café concept that includes a menu with food and recipes from the grocery chain and coffee roasted by The Nero Roasting Company.
Separately, John Lewis is for the first time opening a Caffè Nero at its store in White City, London.
The 1500 sq ft store, which can seat 72 people, will offer the full range of Caffè Nero’s speciality coffees and deli food.
The move builds on an existing partnership between The Nero Group and Waitrose.

"The initial tranche of five cafes will offer the best of Waitrose food together with coffee from The Nero Roasting Company, in a welcoming environment, served by our brilliant Waitrose Partners," said Charlotte Di Cello, commercial director for Waitrose/ "Our stores are hubs for local communities across the country and we know our customers love to have the option of enjoying a coffee, snack or meal after their shop.”
The first Waitrose stores to offer its new café concept will be Billericay, Godalming, Keynsham, Locks Heath and Stroud.
Caffè Nero's UK chief executive Will Stratton-Morris said that expanded partnership represented a "key step" in deepening its relationship with Waitrose.
"It’s a perfect pairing and there is still so much scope for our partnership to continue to grow," continued Stratton-Morris.
